Welcome to the Mystic & Noank Library's Local Authors Writing Workshop Series for the summer of 2023. This is the third year we've run the series as part of our adult summer reading program, connecting readers and aspiring writers with authors who live in or near our community. You may attend each of these workshops either in person or virtually. You must register for each workshop separately.
Craft Heart-Stopping True Crime and Crime Fiction
Multi award-winning author Deborah Levison joins us to lead a seminar on crafting and publishing true crime and crime fiction. She will discuss her writing process and the journey to publication for her first book, an acclaimed true crime and Holocaust story called THE CRATE, and for A NEST OF SNAKES, her recently-released debut thriller based on real New England events. Questions such as “How graphic is too graphic?” “How do I make my characters pop?” and “What sort of permissions do I need for writing true stories?” will be addressed. Come prepared with ideas and personal stories to share with the group…or just listen and enjoy. For anyone thinking of writing true crime or crime fiction, and for anyone who wants a glimpse into the world of publishing, this will be an entertaining and informative evening. Levison’s books will be available for purchase.
