Program Description

Event Details

Janet Hulstrand, author of A Long Way from Iowa: From the Heartland to the Heart of France, will tell about how she came to write the story of three generations of women in her family with a passion for reading and writing--a passion that was largely unfulfilled for her mother and grandmother. In her memoir, she comes to terms with the complicated relationships she had with these two women--and realizes the passion for reading, writing, and travel that have fueled her life's journey were a gift passed down to her by the very role models she was determined to escape.

Following a conversation about writing an intergenerational memoir meant to instruct aspiring memoirists with moderator Ery Caswell, Janet will take questions from the audience. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing by the author. They are $20 cash only.
