Since reopening in 2023, Slater Memorial Museum of Norwich Free Academy has reopened to the public following a major roof restoration. Join museum Director Dayne Rugh as he provides a behind-the-scenes talk into the renovation as well as the newly-reinstalled galleries of the museum, new acquisitions to the collection, and upcoming exhibitions.

Bio
Dayne Rugh is a lifelong resident of Connecticut with a passion for early American History. He is the Director of Slater Memorial Museum where he oversees all museum operations, programming, and exhibitions, and is also President of the Society of the Founders of Norwich,  the owners and operators of the Leffingwell House Museum and the Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop.  He has a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and has published content for the Connecticut History Review, Norwich Magazine, The Bulletin newspaper, Mystic Seaport Museum, and the Journal of the American Revolution. Dayne is also currently writing his first book, a biography of Revolutionary War Colonel, John Durkee, of Norwich Connecticut.
